After the great success of the Moroccan and Spanish security forces and bodies last weekend, Social networks are once again filled with messages calling on young people from Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco to illegally cross the border from Tarajal to Ceuta and the fence of Melilla.
In recent days, authorities have arrested more than 60 people accused of encouraging and coordinating a “massive illegal immigration operation” via social networks, and proceeded to expel 39 illegal immigrants from Algeria and Tunisia.
According to the former Moroccan Minister of Justice and leader of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces party, Mohamed Ben Abdelkader, on his social networks, The government of Morocco’s eastern neighbor, Algeria, and activists are responsible for these calls.
The former leader of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces clearly states that there is no doubt about who is responsible for organizing the so-called “Operation Castillejos” in Fnideq.
Hashtags #WeSeeYouOn9/15 And #15/9FnideqCeuta were the most shared by activists, mostly Algerian, who mobilized thousands of people, mainly young men, to cross the borders of Ceuta and Melilla. This time, the modus operandi is the same. Through the social network X and Tik Tok, hundreds of accounts, mostly Algerian, mobilized the marches towards the borders of Ceuta and Melilla.
Such attacks show that part of the youth of these countries is trapped in a labyrinth with no way out and no direction. The photos shared on social networks clearly show the reality of many young people who, full of hope, leave their lives in the hands of mafias and militant organizations that sell their arrival in Europe as their only salvation. Despite measures taken by public institutions to prevent such cases, thousands of young people have been lured to the border.
According to reports released by Moroccan police and security forces, the joint work of expelling those crossing the border will be carried out without delay. The same document reports the existence of calls and messages from several Moroccan cities close to the Spanish enclaves.
The migratory movement towards Europe is increasingly unsustainable due to the mafias that carry out this type of mass mobilization, which only harms those who want to migrate in an orderly and correct manner. So much so that during last weekend’s protests, police arrested hundreds of immigrants, something activists on social media denied.
Taking advantage of people’s innocence and despair is the main motivation of these organizations. In addition to the hundreds of people arrested, The mobilizations resulted in the death of a young Moroccan who was trying to reach Spain.
Faced with the possibility of a repeat of last weekend’s events, Moroccan security forces, led by the DGSN and the Spanish National Police, will strengthen controls in the surrounding area.
