In light of information provided by the DGST, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) arrested, on Tuesday, September 17, three supporters of the terrorist organization Islamic State (Daesh) planning serious attacks on the security of people and public order.

Special forces from the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST) initiated intervention and arrest procedures during separate operations in Fez, Fnideq and in the rural commune of Ouled Ghanem (province of El Jadida), a BCIJ press release said.

The searches carried out at the homes of the accused, aged between 18 and 39, resulted in the seizure of electronic media, which will be subject to the necessary digital expertise, bladed weapons, a “Daesh” emblem drawn on a piece of wood, in addition to manuscripts of an extremist nature.

According to preliminary data of the investigation, the suspects, who pledged allegiance to the so-called “caliph” of the terrorist organization, effectively joined in the preparation of their terrorist projects by acquiring expertise in the field of manufacturing explosive devices.

The inmates planned to target several vital services in the Kingdom through individual acts, in a “lone wolf” manner.

The accused were placed in police custody for the purposes of the investigation conducted by the BCIJ, under the supervision of the prosecution in charge of terrorism cases, with a view to elucidating their subversive projects and determining possible ramifications with terrorist organizations abroad.
