During the first two days, there will be not two but three Champions League evenings during the week. From Tuesday to Thursday inclusive, 6 matches will take place each evening, including two in the early evening.

Let's get back to the format of the competition: each team will play eight matches, half at home and half away. By accumulating points from these eight matches, a ranking from 1 to 36 will be established. The first 8 teams will reach the round of 16 and will be joined by the winners of the round of 16, which will be played by the teams ranked from 9th to 24th place. The clubs that finish between 25th and 36th place will see their European adventure come to an end.

Our consultant Thomas Chatelle was measured about this new format. On the one hand, he found it interesting because it allows smaller teams to shine. On the other hand, it loads the calendar even more and adds matches to the players, who already complain about having too little rest between two games.
