France: Investigation into the murder of a Tunisian man fatally stabbed in Paris

An investigation is currently being conducted by the judicial police district following the murder, last Sunday, of Tarek, a Tunisian man aged around thirty, stabbed after an attempted theft of his mobile phone, in Paris, according to the first elements of the investigation.

According to Le Parisien, Tarek was sitting at a table on Sunday evening around 10 p.m. on the terrace of a bar in the 20th arrondissement of Paris when an individual tried to steal his phone, but he did not give in and insulted the thief.

The latter left and then returned ten minutes later with a knife to stab his victim in the chest, before fleeing on a bicycle, adds the same source, stating that Tarek, seriously injured and in cardio-respiratory arrest, was taken to hospital with a life-threatening prognosis. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has authorized the opening of an investigation for murder while the killer is still on the run, the same source reports.
