Result of the legislative elections: Éric Ciotti denounces “a real institutional and political coup d’état”

Having come third in the second round of the legislative elections in an alliance with the National Rally, the president of the Republicans denounced a “shameful alliance” between the Macronist bloc and the New Popular Front during the second round.

“We are losing a lot of constituencies at 48 or 49% against 51 or 52%, but tomorrow how will this team govern? How will they respect the injunctions which, starting this evening, were issued by Mr. Mélenchon,” lamented Éric Ciotti.

“I denounce Emmanuel Macron, a true kamikaze of the Republic”

The president of the Republicans, who has seen his party tear itself apart since he chose to ally himself with Jordan Bardella, denounces “a real institutional and political coup d’état”: “This evening, our Republic is seized with malaise. The left, a minority in the first round, is winning thanks to Mr. Macron.”

Éric Ciotti thus castigates the agreements and withdrawals made after the first round, which he equates to “political mishmash” and for which he attributes full responsibility to the President of the Republic. “Tonight, I denounce Emmanuel Macron, a true kamikaze of the Republic, ready to install institutional chaos to maintain his little power,” he accuses.

The president of the Republicans still wants to be optimistic for the future, stating that a victory of the LR-RN is “only a matter of time”, “as the coalition between Macronie and La France Insoumise is already doomed to collapse”. For his part, Éric Ciotti claims to be re-elected in Nice. According to our latest Ipsos Talan projections for France Télévisions, Radio France, France24/RFI, LCP and Public Sénat, at 10 p.m., the LR-RN deputies win between 14 and 17 seats.
