It all started with one of those man-in-the-street interviews that some TikTokers and YouTubers are adept at, particularly in North America, where some of them will interview young drunk people leaving bars in order to ask them intimate questions and get (mega) uninhibited answers.
The initial video, released by creative duo Tim & Dee TV on June 11, was filmed in Nashville, USA, and shows a young woman, named Hailey, being asked:
“What move in bed can drive a man crazy every time?”
His spontaneous response is most disconcerting…
“Oh, you have to do that “hawk tuah” thing and then you spit on the thing, did you get that?”
If anyone needs clarification, “hawk tuah” is not the name of a chief of a Native American tribe, but rather a kind of onomatopoeia to express the act of practicing “deep throat », or an irrumation if you prefer the more scientific thermal baths.
It didn’t take much for the video to go around the world’s internet for young Hailey to become the “Hawk Tuah Girl” and for miles of memes to flood the networks.
How to capitalize a meme:
This craze is such that the young woman has seen her social networks explode in subscribers and she has launched her own line of derivative products (we are in America after all.) One of the most popular items on sale is a cap on which is written “Hawk Tuah ’24”, as if it were a political campaign whose slogan is, of course, “Spit on that thing”. Caps are sold for $40 if signed, or $30 without signature.
