After the twelfth special on the eighteen programmed of this Monte-Carlo rally, Sébastien Ogier is still in the lead in general with just over seventeen seconds ahead of Adrien Fourmaux (Hyundai) and twenty seconds on Elfyn Evans (Toyota). The octuple world champion is rather serene as this Saturday afternoon approaches this Saturday.
Sébastien Ogier makes his experience speak in this second day of the Monte-Carlo rally, the one where he is (very) the habit of winning. This Saturday morning, the octuple world champion ranked second, fifth and third of the first three specials of the day respectively, respectively won by Grégoire Munster (Ford), Ott Tänak (Hyundai) and Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota). Again leader in the general classification Friday evening, the Frenchman managed his boat very well to avoid risks and road trips. Result at midday and before three other specials this Saturday afternoon (SS13 La Motte-Chalancon-Saint-Nazaire 2 at 14:56; SS14 Acelon-Recoubeau-Jansac 2 at 16:05; SS15 La Bâtie-des- FONTS – Aspremont 2 at 17:08), the Toyota driver accompanied by Vincent Landais is still at the top of the general classification. Even if he did not win a single scratch, he still offered the luxury of digging the gap over his competitors.
Fourmaux at ease in Monte-Carlo
As the team reports, Sébastien Ogier owned up to twelve seconds ahead of Elfyn Evans before the twelfth special and finished with more than seventeen on Adrien Fourmaux (Hyundai) who passed the Briton. On its social networks, the octuple world champion deciphe this half-day: ” I try to dose the risks, it is never easy on a Monte-Carlo! The previous special was much dirty than what I expected, and in these conditions you have to know how to waste a little time. It was not much easier in certain places and the rain was also invited at the end, but we continue to move forward. Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) and Ott Tänak (Hyundai) wage a fierce battle for the general's fourth place while Thierry Neuville, the reigning world champion, is 8th in the ranking just over five minutes from French.
