Soggy Sunday night in store for the end of the weekend

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – First Alert AccuTrack shows a mostly clear sky across Central Alabama tonight, but clouds will begin to stream in from the west over the next few hours ahead of a rainmaker arriving tomorrow night. In the meantime, expect a chilly and dry evening ahead.

Next Big Thing: Our next chance arrives tomorrow with the most widespread rain moving in Sunday night into early Monday morning. We will likely start tomorrow morning mostly cloudy with temperatures in the lower 30s. I think most of tomorrow will remain dry, but we can’t rule out a few showers at any point during the day, particularly later in the afternoon. Cloud cover will likely prevent temperatures from rapidly warming up tomorrow. I think we’ll see highs in the upper 40s with low 50s possible south of I-20. Rain will likely increase from west to east late Sunday night. Widespread showers are likely Sunday night with rain moving out by late Monday morning. Temperatures will remain well above freezing in the upper 30s and lower 40s Sunday night. No wintry threats are expected. Rainfall totals could add up around a quarter to a half inch for most of our area.

Next Big Thing(WBRC)

Warming up next week: If you are tired of freezing temperatures, good news: we will likely see temperatures gradually warm up next week! High temperatures Monday will remain in the lower 50s. We could see highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s Tuesday and Wednesday. Overnight lows will also trend a little warmer in the 30s and 40s. The pattern change indicates even warmer air arriving next weekend with highs potentially climbing at least into the 60s.We may end up with highs in the 70s by early February!

Rain chances next week: We should dry out Monday afternoon with dry weather continuing into Tuesday. Our next chance to see a few showers will likely occur Wednesday as a weak disturbance pushes through Alabama. Rain chance at 30%. Only isolated showers are possible Thursday and Friday with rain chances increasing by next weekend. So, the first weekend of February could end up wet, warm, and stormy.
