The Minister of the Interior welcomed this January 21 the “fight” of the leader of the Némésis collective, close to the identity movement. “I don’t think Bruno Retailleau knows exactly who she is,” pleads those around him to BFMTV.com.
A few kind words, which may surprise. Invited by the internal security think tank, an organization headed by lawyer Thibaut de Montbrial, Bruno Retailleau sent a letter of satisfaction to Alice Cordier, the leader of the feminist identity collective Némésis, Tuesday January 21 in Paris.
“Nemesis, I would like to congratulate the young ladies that I saw, there you go. Bravo for your fight, you know that I am very close to it,” launched the Minister of the Interior on stage.
“Islamo-rightist sinister”
This movement, which launched in 2019 in the wake of #MeToo, denounces in particular “foreign rapists” and lists cases of sexual violence perpetrated by people of foreign origin in France.
Founded in particular by a former member of La Cocarde Studente, a student union close to the National Rally, Némésis has made punchy actions its signature.
In January 2022, in the middle of the presidential campaign, its members sought to disrupt the meeting of LR candidate Valérie Pécresse, then supported by Bruno Retailleau, by brandishing banners proclaiming “Pécresse, Islamo-rightist”.
“Not sure he knows exactly what Nemesis is”
A few months later, in the midst of a march against sexual violence, they held signs with an ironic tone, claiming to be both “feminist and Islamist”, all while wearing niqabs.
Several complaints were filed against them, notably by the mayor of Lille Martine Aubry and the mayor of Besançon Anne Vignot for “incitement to racial hatred” after the display of banners hostile to immigration. For example, it read “Foreign rapists out” and “Free us from immigration”.
-“I don't think the minister knows the leader of Nemesis, Alice Cordier, and I'm not sure he knows exactly what Nemesis is. He is more interested in the DZ Mafia”, this drug trafficking cartel of Marseille, trivializes a relative of Bruno Retailleau to BFMTV.com.
“He was simply responding to a question on the dissolution of the La Jeune Garde collective and on the figures for anti-Semitism. When he salutes the fights of Alice Cordier, he was referring to what she had just said,” continues the statement. entourage of the Minister of the Interior.
A response about the anti-fascist collective La Jeune Garde
During his response to Némésis, the tenant of Place Beauvau announced that La Jeune garde antifasciste, a far-left collective, could be “the subject of possible dissolution”.
“We have received several reports from prefects,” further indicates the office of the Minister of the Interior. The main figure of this movement is Raphaël Arnault, LFI deputy for Vaucluse. Bruno Retailleau has already crossed swords with him over the violence in New Caledonia in September 2024.
This is not the first time that the Némésis collective has enjoyed appearing with ministers. In September 2023, Alice Cordier shared a selfie with Gérald Darmanin, then Minister of the Interior, in the middle of the Lille clearance sale.
A few months earlier, the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer had been photographed all smiles alongside a handful of Nemesis activists, one of whom had brandished the movement card. He will then denounce “gross manipulation”.
