David Escudi, sports advisor to Barcelona City Council, believes that the Spotify Camp Nou stadium is the most likely candidate to host the 2030 World Cup final.
In an interview with the Spanish news agency EFE, Escudi said:“It will be difficult to understand that the Spotify Camp Nou stadium will not host the 2030 World Cup final, and I believe that this stadium is the most appropriate option to host the final match.”
He continued: “We have all the capabilities to host the final match. We are not the ones who said that, but it was the nominations evaluation committee itself that gave us a good evaluation, on the technical level, and this seems logical, because this stadium is the largest in Spain, in terms of capacity, in addition to the great attraction that the city of Barcelona enjoys.”
-““We have the best city and the best stadium, compared to the files of the ‘Santiago Bernabéu’ in Madrid and the ‘Grand Hassan II Stadium’ in Casablanca.” Escudi adds in his speech.
I concluded:According to the submitted file, Madrid suffers from a limited number of seats compared to the specifications required for the World Cup final, while Barcelona presented a very strong file, and the potential of the stadium and the city cannot be ignored.”
