The Spanish club explained in a press release that FIBA regulations do not require Bourges to grant its request to postpone the match.
“As there are no specific regulations in this area – except in cases of force majeure – which provide for these cases of cancellation of matches due to injury or illness, it is the clubs who must come to an agreement. Bourges Basket refused the two options proposed by Avenida: playing on Thursday or playing on Friday or Saturday, postponing the championship matches and having the Salamanca team cover all travel and accommodation costs linked to both movements. Bourges alleges the impossibility of the calendar and the modification of the day of the French championship, and they have the right not to modify the date of our match if they deem it appropriate. Also, Perfumerías Avenida had to urgently register four young players (who join Paula Oliva already registered) to be able to participate in tomorrow's match, while waiting to be able to recover one (or more) of the eight players currently affected by these gastrointestinal problems for the shock even if, logically, they will not arrive in the best conditions.”
