The Italian came from two sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev last year and win the first major title of his career.

However, to claim the title again, he may have to get past Novak Djokovic.

The Serb is into the last four after comfortably beating Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals despite being injured.

To make the showpiece match yet again, he must first beat Alexander Zverev while Ben Shelton stands in Sinner’s way.

Carlos Alcaraz booed by fans as he accuses umpire of being influenced by Novak Djokovic

Australian Open men’s singles final: Better than ever?

2024 saw Djokovic fail to pick up a Grand Slam title in a year that felt like the changing of the guard, with Alcaraz and Sinner sharing all four tournaments.

However, the tennis legend has a new weapon up his sleeve, in Sir Andy Murray.

The Scotsman has retired and has linked up with Djokovic to be his coach, and that win over Alcaraz was the first example of just how good this relationship could be.

Djokovic lost the first set and suffered an injury, but he changed tactics and managed to consistently break Alcaraz over the next few sets to claim victory.

It was a stunning win for the Serb, and it suggests we could be about to witness an improved Djokovic.

Murray and Djokovic have put their previous on-court rivalry aside to work together

Australian Open men’s singles final: What has been said?

Djokovic is enjoying working with Murray, and he feels their relationship is developing.

Speaking after beating Alcaraz, he said: “This was a huge win for all of us, including Andy and myself, for the relationship.

“That’s why I went to him [to celebrate]because I just felt very grateful that he’s there.

“I feel more and more connected with Andy every day. We face challenges… people don’t see that obviously; we try to make the most out of every day and grow together.

“He’s been as committed to my career and this tournament as he can be. So it was kind of a gesture of appreciation, respect for him, and the fact that he’s out there – and he doesn’t need to be.

“He’s giving all his support to me, to the whole team, and trying to make it work.”
