The rain is back in Lorient and it may even blow from this Friday, January 24, 2025. Can we talk about a storm in your opinion?
Steven Tual, meteorologist at Temps breton: The biggest storm was the one on Friday, but not for Brittany. An explosive storm is forecast for the British Isles and Ireland, with gusts of between 130 and 170 km/h on the coast. It could cause damage and get people talking.
We remain on the fringes of this disrupted system. There will be nothing bad in Brittany but an expected gale, with peaks of 100, even 110 km/h on the coast. Between 70 and 90 km/h in the lands of Morbihan, Ille-et-Vilaine and Loire-Atlantique. The parameter to watch out for here on Friday will be the rain. It could saturate the soil. It's like filling the vats. Saturday, on the other hand, we will have to take a walk, the weather will be nice.
The wind will pick up again this Sunday. Should we be wary of it in Lorient?
This Sunday will be another depression. A strong gale, or even a storm, is expected. Gusts could approach 120 km/h. We are going to enter an intensive rainy sequence to watch very closely, from Sunday to Tuesday. There could be heavier flooding than usual because rivers will have difficulty flowing into the sea due to swells. We will also have the wind which will push the water back into the land. People who live near these waterways must already protect themselves.
-In terms of temperatures, what does that mean?
This Wednesday marks the last day of cold. We will have more than 10°C every day from tomorrow. We will even be above seasonal norms on Monday. Today we also find good air quality, which has been deplorable for several days.
Can we hope for a lull?
We are entering a very disturbed sequence. The lull should not occur before early February.
