TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – As a rare winter storm drifts across the Gulf Coast, roads are becoming increasingly slick and dangerous. Below is a running list of crashes, roadblocks, road closures and travel bans in the Big Bend and South Georgia.
A travel ban has been implemented in Thomas County as of Tuesday evening, according to the Thomas County Sheriff. The department says those driving on the roads will be fined up to $1,000.
Additionally, Tallahassee Police announced just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday that Thomasville Road has been shut down in both directions at Raymond Diehl Road “until further notice due to icy conditions.”
According to Florida 511, there are crashes at:
- Exit 174 on I-10 West in Gadsden County
- Mile marker 170 on I-10 East and the right shoulder is blocked
- Mile marker 161 on I-10 near a rest area. The ramp is blocked as a result of the crash.
- Mile marker 218, 219 and 221 on I-10 West in Jefferson County
- Mile marker 224 East on I-10 in Jefferson County
- Mile marker 170 East on I-10 in Chattahoochee with a roadblock
Travel advisories are issued for the following areas, according to Florida Highway Patrol:
- Bridge iced over near mile marker 196 on I-10
- Mile marker 217 Eastbound on I-10 in Monticello has reported no visibility
- Icy roads have been reported on Blue Star Highway per FHP
