ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – City of Atlanta crews spent Tuesday treating city roads for winter weather conditions.
Trucks carrying brine and salt left the Atlanta Department of Transportation (ATLDOT) facility to make sure streets across the city were safe.
“Our number-one mission is safety and to keep the city moving. We know with the very cold temperatures even the smallest amount of precipitation can really gridlock the city,” Allen Smith, ATLDOT deputy commissioner, said. “And so it’s important that we get ahead of it, get our roads treated and keep the city moving.”
Officials urge residents to stay off the roads, and if you encounter a salt truck, slow down and let crews work; they will continue treating roads through Tuesday night.
