The Washington Wizards losing ways have returned as their odds for the No. 1 overall pick have increased.
In the Wizards last 10 games, Brian Keefe’s squad has repeatedly fallen short. Although it’s tough to watch, it may be best for the team’s future to continue stacking up losses as it could be the only thing that can turn their franchise around sooner rather than later.
Nonetheless with a matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night, Washington’s double-digit losing streak could extend to 11 games, or the Wizards could defy the odds and snap the streak against an injury-riddled Lakers team.
That said, here’s a few things we will be watching in tonight’s battle.
Can Kyle Kuzma increase his trade value with a revenge game?
As most know, Kyle Kuzma was originally drafted in the first round by the Lakers before eventually being dealt to the Wizards in a blockbuster trade that sent Russell Westbrook out West. And while Kuzma has spent multiple seasons in Washington as one of the longest tenured Wizards, there’s no denying that his future in D.C. is up in the air.
Throughout the start of the season, the Utah product has battled injuries and inconsistent play on the court that has naturally followed. His poor play has truly put the Wizards front office in a rough place as the season they finally seem content in trading Kuzma, his lackluster performances have lowered his trade value.
-However, there’s still time for Kuzma to increase his value on the trade market before the NBA trade deadline in February approaches and a revenge game against the Lakers could be the key to it.
Will Jordan Poole be aggressive on offense?
Jordan Poole’s play over the weekend for Washington was a perfect illustration of what the Poole Party experience is. The former Michigan star exploded for 38 points against the Golden State Warriors on Saturday, and fizzled out just one day later on Sunday.
His offensive inefficiency is hard to watch at times, so it’s hard to know what to expect when Poole takes the floor. However, back on the West coast, it won’t be shocking to see the guard go for another big game.
Alex Sarr vs. Anthony Davis
Alex Sarr has continued to take leaps during his rookie season. Some of his best performances have come against top competition in the front court and he’ll have the chance to see how he fares against one of the best big men in the league in Anthony Davis on Tuesday.
