Arsenal have already done some work on signing £30m striker

Arsenal’s search for a new striker is ongoing, and the Gunners are looking everywhere for solutions.

Arsenal are looking at players within the Premirer League – Arsenal have been linked to Evan Ferguson recently, while Mikel Arteta loves Alexander Isak.

The Gunners have looked at players in Europe too, Jonathan David is a target while Arsenal really like Benjamin Sesko too.

However, all of those transfer plans appear to be going up dead ends, so Arsenal are now having to look further afield, all the way to Brazil.

Indeed, speaking on Curtis Shaw , Ben Jacobs has shared an update on Arsenal’s interest in Igor Jesus, claiming that this is a player Edu has looked at and some groundwork has already been done.

Arsenal have done groundwork on Igor Jesus deal

Jacobs shared what he knows about Arsenal and Jesus.

According to the journalist, Arsenal have done some groundwork on this deal via Edu.

Jesus has been valued at £30m, and Fulham are looking at Jesus too.

“Yeah a couple of rumblings, the first name I have put out there is Igor Jesus. He has won four caps for Brazil, he’s 23 years of age. This is an Edu legacy deal if you like and some groundwork was done for him. He’s at Botafogo and it’s a good time to buy from a club in Brazil because of how their calendar works.

Premier League record signings from Brazil

It’s always exciting when a Premier League club goes after a young talent from South America.

Indeed, these players can often be hidden gems who become superstars.

However, Arsenal may need to tread carefully here.

While it’s easy to get excited about potential signings from Brazil, a lot of the big-money arrivals in the Premier League have been very hit and miss.

Premier League record signings from Brazil Fee
Willian Estevao – Chelsea £51m
Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City £27m
Oscar – Chelsea £25m
Luis Guilherme – West Ham £21m
Andre – Wolves £20m
Matheus Franca – Crystal Palace £18m
Danilo – Nottingham Forest £18m
Paulinho – Tottenham £17m
Joao Gomes – Wolves £17m
Deivid Washington – Chelsea £15m

Of course, Chelsea’s recent business has really distorted this list as many of these players are yet to play a Premier League game.

There have been some great signings from Brazil in the Premier League such as Gabriel Jesus, but for every Gabriel Jesus, there’s a Paulinho or Luis Guilherme.

Luis Guilherme was signed by West Ham just this summer, but Guilherme is already being questioned as a signing at the London Stadium.

Igor Jesus could be a superstar in the making, or he could be the next big flop out of Brazil, and for £30m, Arsenal need to make sure they do their due diligence on this signing.
