UNITED STATES – A controversial gesture. Billionaire Elon Musk made a lot of talk about him this Monday, January 20 at the inauguration of Donald Trump. Not for the short speech he gave to the Republican's supporters in the huge Capital One Arena in Washington DC, but rather for what was interpreted by many observers as a Roman salute, or Nazi salute.

The boss of Tesla and X arrived on stage thunderously with the song Thunderstruck of the ACDC group in the background. Ecstatic after Donald Trump was sworn in at the Capitol, the world's richest man greeted the crowd forced to attend the ceremony from a distance but in warmth. The latter actually took place indoors and not outdoors as planned due to a cold snap.

“That’s victory!” Yeah ! And this was no ordinary victory. We were at a crossroads on the road to human civilization. There are more or less important elections, this one really mattered. I just want to say thank you, thank you for doing it! THANKS “declared the South African entrepreneur.

“DOGE on Mars”

This is when Donald Trump's new best friend appears to give a Roman salute, taken up by Hitler and now better known as the rallying sign of Nazis and fascists. You can see the images in the video at the top of the article. Very quickly on social networks, Internet users became angry and denounced this gesture broadcast live on television.

Others are more cautious, like Tristan Mendès-, a specialist in conspiracy and extremes. “Beware of the hype over Musk's supposed fascist salute. The entire sequence appears to show him sending hearts, which he says right after. Let's avoid giving misinformation people the opportunity to correct us.”he points out.

In fact, Elon Musk speaks again and with his hand on his chest declares: “Heart to you. It is thanks to you that the future of civilization is assured. Thanks to you, we will have safe cities, secure borders (…). And we're going to put DOGE on Mars! » A reference to the name of the mission he will have in the Trump government, that is to say reducing costs in the administration, as well as to the ambition of his company SpaceX to go to the planet Mars.

Very active on his social network X, Elon Musk did not respond to the controversy. Neither does Donald Trump.
