It is finally clear who will moderate the three ESC shows: They are comedienne Hazel Brugger, moderation icon Michelle Hunziker and the well-known presenter and actress Sandra Studer, who herself took part in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1991.
“Returning home with such a big event is huge,” says Hunziker, who has lived in Italy for a long time. Being able to host the ESC was a big dream of hers. “I always hoped that Switzerland or Italy would win.” Now she is very happy to be working with Studer and Brugger.
“I was pretty desperate”
Moderation is also a dream come true for Sandra Studer. “Me and the song contest, it’s really a love story.” After her own participation in 1991, she remained loyal to the ESC, moderated the Swiss preliminary decisions and commented on the contest for SRF. Hosting the final would therefore always have been a dream. “But I was pretty desperate by now because we hadn’t won for so long.” Now a circle has come full circle for her.
-While Studer and Hunziker seem like the natural choice for the ESC show, the comedienne Hazel Brugger is not a given at first glance. She doesn’t hide the fact that she still has to get used to the ESC family. “We are happy that the three of us can tackle this.”
All three women will host the big finale show on May 17th. Brugger and Studer will also moderate the semi-finals. The reason for this is probably that Hunziker’s fee would probably have exceeded the budget for three shows.
Epiney moderates the public viewing
The public viewing in Joggeli will also have its own moderation duo: Melanie Freymont from RTS and Sven Epiney will entertain the viewers there. From there you will always be able to switch to the hall and thus to the TV show. They will also announce the points of the Swiss public vote. Epiney will also commentate on the semi-finals and final, as he has done in previous years.
