Read Carrie Underwood’s Full Statement About Performing At Trump’s Inauguration

Carrie Underwood has confirmed that she will perform at President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday, Jan. 20.

Following reports from Variety and multiple outlets that Underwood has been tapped to sing “America the Beautiful” at the Washington, D.C., ceremony, the country music singer addressed her involvement in the upcoming inauguration in a statement sent to TODAY.com.

“I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,” Underwood said. “I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.”

The new “American Idol” judge joins the Village People for Trump’s Inauguration Day festivities. Band member Victor Willis shared the news in a message to Village People fans with a post on Facebook Jan. 13.

“We are announcing today that VILLAGE PEOPLE have accepted an invitation from President Elect Trump’s campaign to participate in inaugural activities, including at least one event with President Elect Trump,” Willis said. “We know this wont make some of you happy to hear however we believe that music is to be performed without regard to politics.”

He continued, “Our song ‘Y.M.C.A.’ is a global anthem that hopefully helps bring the country together after a tumultuous and divided campaign where our preferred candidate lost. Therefore, we believe it’s now time to bring the country together with music which is why VILLAGE PEOPLE will be performing at various events as part of the 2025 Inauguration of Donald J. Trump.”

According to NBC News, one of the events where the group will perform is the Inaugural-Eve Ball on Jan. 19, hosted by conservative activist group Turning Point USA. The event’s website lists Vice President-elect JD Vance, Conor McGregor and Charlie Kirk as other attendees.
