Businesses ready for guests during frigid temperatures Monday and Tuesday in Wausau area

ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAW) – As first alert meteorologist Spencer Furman has been telling us, the arctic air has settled into central Wisconsin, and temperatures will stay below zero for the next day or so, that means it’s a good idea to stay indoors and not go outside for long periods of time.

Sunrise 7′s Chandler Ducker spoke with two businesses in Rothschild. One includes playing and learning combined. The Greater Wausau Children’s Museum is still open on Monday and Tuesday during the temperatures. They actually just started opening on Mondays last week to offer more time for families. It’s the perfect space for your kids to come play and they are cranking up the heat. Some of the available activities include the Rainbow Garden for toddlers, and more. They even have stem activities, including the Imagination Playground.

“It’s super super large blocks and children can create anything they want with their imagination with that, and also they can use them and create other items, to bring like steppingstones together or balance beams together, and create an obstacle course,” said Shelly Bovet, Co-Founder, Greater Wausau Children’s Museum.

The museum is open Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children 1-12 are $7 per child. Parents and adult caregivers are $1 per person. Children who are 0-12 months are free.

The Greater Wausau Children’s Museum is located at 10101 Market St Suite D70, Rothschild.

He also spoke with Marcus Cedar Creek Cinema in Rothschild. If you’re planning to go see a movie Monday and Tuesday, the cinema is open, they’re even bringing up the heat in their theatres. It’s going to be below zero outside, and they say they’re prepared, and it will be a normal schedule. Because of the cold temps though, they are offering free hot chocolate on Monday and Tuesday to everyone who comes out to see a movie.

“I think it’s just a great thing to do for the guests from an appreciation standpoint, they’re bearing the brunt of coming out and that cold weather to visit us. So, it’s something we can do for them,” said Scott Lahr, General Manager, Cedar Creek Cinema, Marcus Theatres.

If your kids are 11 and under, or you’re a senior 60 and over, if you come before 4 p.m., your tickets will be cheaper. The first movie show time is at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, but other times will depend on what you want to see and the day you go. Click here for a schedule.
