Half a century has passed since the promulgation of the Veil law on January 17, 1975, to decriminalize abortion in France. For the 50th anniversary, the Maison des femmes des Côtes-d'Armor is organizing a film debate at Club 6, in Saint-Brieuc, with the screening of the documentary “Histoire d'un secret”, this Monday, January 20, 2025, at 8 p.m. .
In this feature film made in 2003, Rennes director Mariana Otero tackles her own story, that of a tragedy that occurred at the end of the 1960s. She lost her mother at the age of 4, and discovered years later that her death was the result of a clandestine abortion. She portrays herself, as narrator, with her sister Isabel, to bear witness to this collective story.
