During the night from Saturday to Sunday, urban violence took place in the Saugeraies district of Mâcon. One person was arrested. Half a company of CRS, or 50 civil servants, was deployed on Sunday evening, the Interior Ministry told Agence Radio . The mayor, like the prefect, makes the link between this violence and drug trafficking.

“What I hope is that the laws which are applicable to terrorism, which have shown all their positive effects, are applicable to drug trafficking”declared Monday January 20 on franceinfo Jean-Patrick Courtois, mayor of the Republicans of Mâcon (Saône-et-). “We must adopt the means of terrorism”, he insisted.

And “first assessment shows three public buildings degraded” as well as “three police vehicles damaged”, depending on the prefecture. The damage must be quantified Monday morning, said the mayor. Mâcon is not insured for this kind of violence, he continued. The latter intends to contact the Minister of the Interior “to see how we can get direct assistance from the State for these disasters”.

The prefect issued several orders until Tuesday 11 p.m. for “the ban on detention, transport of weapons, all categories combined, ammunition and objects that could constitute a weapon concerning the municipalities of Mâcon, Sancé and Charnay” . The public prosecutor's office opened a blatant investigation into the charges of “damage and destruction of property by fire in an organized gang, criminal conspiracy with a view to committing this crime, violence against persons holding public authority with weapons and participation in a armed gathering”.
