FC Porto recorded, this Sunday, the second consecutive defeat in the championship, the third in all competitions. After Sporting and Nacional, now it was Gil Vicente’s turn to triumph, in Barcelos. Pablo made it 1-0, Gonçalo Borges equalized, Josué made it 2-1 and, after a disallowed goal by Gonçalo Borges, turned into a penalty for Gil Vicente, Félix Correia closed the score at 3-1, at 90+4′. The Dragons fall from second place, now 1 point behind Benfica and four behind Sporting.
After eliminating Moreirense from the Portuguese Cup, Bruno Pinheiro promoted Andrew’s return to goal, instead of Brian, betting on Josué in defense, to the detriment of Marvin. On the FC Porto side, Vítor Bruno made five changes in relation to the eleven that lost to Nacional: João Mário, Francisco Moura, Nico, Namaso and Fábio Vieira are in the game, leaving out Martim Neto, Vasco Sousa, Pepê, André Franco and Rodrigo Mora.
Two shots, one goal
After just 3 minutes, Pablo was thrown into Gil Vicente’s attack, resulting in Otávio’s corner. FC Porto responded, in the 8th minute, with Fábio Vieira shooting for Gbane’s providential cut. Following the corner, Samu headed the ball at the second post and it was Sandro Cruz who prevented the score from 0 to 1.
In response, in the 11th minute, Félix Correia fled to the left, served Fujimoto who, already inside the area, served Pablo, Pena’s son, former FC Porto striker, who, in a dispute with Otávio, anticipated Diogo Costa and shot for 1 to 0.
FC Porto tried to react and, in the 16th minute, after two corners, João Mário tried his luck, from the edge of the area, but with the ball going way over Andrew’s goal. At 18′, after losing the ball from João Mário, Nico González helped by cutting a ball that would have been dangerous, once again from Pablo. At 21′, on the other side, Namaso managed to receive the ball inside the area, passing through Mory Gbane but Rúben Fernandes made the cut. At 22′ João Mário crossed from the right, left-handed, but Samu’s header was very deflected. At 26′ another header attempt, this time from Nehuen Pérez, for Andrew to hold.
Expulsion… on the bench
In the 29th minute, Gil Vicente came very close to 2-0, after a quick transition, with Tidjany Touré, after several rebounds, shooting just wide of Diogo Costa’s goal. At 41′ Namaso tried his luck, with a shot very high. At 44′, after a yellow card on Gil Vicente’s bench, Fábio Veríssimo showed red directly to Gil’s coach, Bruno Pinheiro.
Coach finger
For the second half, Vítor Bruno passed over Galeno, betting on Gonçalo Borges, and the effect was… immediate. In the 48th minute, the FC Porto winger appeared in the Gilista area and, in an arc, shot to equalize, in full euphoria, the score in Barcelos.
Immediate response
In response, Gil Vicente won a corner, with Sandro Cruz crossing in the 52nd minute, for a deflection by Otávio, and following the dead ball Josué Sá put the roosters in front again: Félix Correia took a corner, Rúben Fernandes headed in the first half. and Josué, forgotten in the second, made it 2-1.
-In the 57th minute, Gil Vicente made a double move, with Mboula and Santi García replacing Tidjany Touré and Fujimoto. At 58′, in another corner, Rúben Fernandes won once again, this time with a header over Diogo Costa’s goal. At 62′ Gonçalo Borges tried his luck again, but with a silly shot. Much more dangerous was Namaso’s shot, in the 63rd minute, saved by Andrew.
Two spearheads
Vítor Bruno changed again soon after, taking a chance with center forward Deniz Gul instead of Namaso, side by side with Samu. At 69′, two more pieces, with Tiago Djaló and Rodrigo Mora replacing João Mário and Fábio Vieira.
The game was interrupted moments later, for around four minutes, due to torches thrown onto the pitch, and Otávio’s shot wide (75′). At 78′ Pablo left, already in physical difficulties, with Cauê being thrown into the game.
Two more expulsions
In the 83rd minute, FC Porto’s life became even more difficult, with Nico González being sent off, with a second yellow card, after a foul on Zé Carlos. Fábio Veríssimo was called to the VAR, canceled the yellow and even showed red straight to the Spanish midfielder from FC Porto. At 87′ Eustáquio kicked the ball, received a yellow card and one of Vítor Bruno’s assistants was also sent off the bench.
From 2-2 to 3-1
The truth is that Gonçalo Borges was really hot and, in the 89th minute, the full-back received the ball from Deniz Gul and, at the edge of the area, shot to make it 2-2. Fábio Veríssimo, however, was called to the VAR to analyze a move in the FC Porto area, before the equalizing goal, he scored a penalty for Gil Vicente, due to Otávio’s foul on Santi García, and canceled the Dragons’ goal. From the 11 meter mark, in the 90+4 minute, Félix Correia scored the final 3-1.
In a surreal end to the game, Bruno Pinheiro also launched Jorge Aguirre and Marvin, removing Félix Correia and Zé Carlos, for the final minutes of the match, already in full party atmosphere, on one side, and requests for the resignation of Vítor Bruno, from another, and with Samu still being sent off after the final whistle.
Flashscore man of the match: Pablo (Gil Vicente)
