Renée Richard died this Sunday, January 19, at the age of 74. Daughter of Mother Richard, she was an emblematic figure of the Halles Paul Bocuse in Lyon. For several years, she had been battling illness. The city's mayor Grégory Doucet paid tribute to him on his social networks.
“It was with deep emotion that I learned of the passing of Renée Richard. Lyon and its gastronomy are today losing an essential ambassador. Behind this famous name and these exceptional cheeses, a tireless worker, appreciated by all” , wrote the councilor.
And to remember: “His smile, his affability and his charm will forever be remembered. I am thinking today of his family, and of his teams at Halles Paul Bocuse. Sincere condolences.”
-Paul Bocuse was the first chef to make the Saint-Marcellin de la Mère Richard known. Renée, who intended to become a clerk at the notary, finally agreed to take over from her mother, at Les Halles. What was supposed to be temporary became his whole life, to the point of making him an essential personality. A choice she has never regretted.
