Union Bordeaux-Bègles crushed the Sharks (66-12) by scoring ten tries. Damian Penaud sounded the revolt after a start marked by two South African tries, scoring six tries (a hat-trick per half) and being decisive on two others. Bastien Vergnes-Taillefer and Matthieu Jalibert also had a great day.
The tops
The UBB winger got his team back on track with a hat-trick in the first half, allowing his team to regain the advantage on the scoreboard after quickly being down 12 to 0. He was able to improve all the balls, again proving decisive at the start of the second half with an inside pass for his scrum half, Maxime Lucu. He then scored a second hat-trick in the second half, making six tries in total, having scored his first hat-trick in the Champions Cup at Exeter the previous week. And the icing on the cake, it would allow young Jacques Nguimbous to score his first try for his first professional match.
- Bastien Vergnes-Taillefer: 8/10
He has not often started since October and he once again had to start the match on the substitutes' bench. The withdrawal of Temo Matiu, ill, allowed him to recover number 7. He wanted to show that he could be a starter, putting in a solid match against the aggressive South Africans in the first act. He was able to compete in the fight with a solid defensive performance (twelve tackles, no misses) and offering some flashes with the ball in hand.

-- Matthieu Jalibert: 8.5/10
The Bordeaux fly-half showed that he had returned to his best level after a muscle injury which kept him away from the field for a short month before making his return to competition last week in Exeter. Matthieu Jalibert is the ultimate driver of this Bordeaux team and he drives his Formula 1 at very high speed. He is in international form.
