Barron Trump, the teenaged son of Donald and Melania Trump, won’t be living at the White House during his father’s second term as US president.
Why isn’t Barron moving into the White House?
The only shared offspring of the president-elect and first lady-to-be, Barron will continue to reside in New York, where he is now a college freshman. In September, the 18-year-old began his first year as a student at New York University’s Stern School of Business.
However, Melania told an interview with Fox News this week that Barron will have a room at the White House and will be able to “come and visit” with his friends. It will be up to him how often he puts in an appearance in the US capital, she added.
“Whatever he would like to do”
“Yeah [he can bring his friends with him], whatever he would like to do,” Melania told Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt on Monday. “I feel that, the children, we have them till they are like 18, 19 years old. We teach them, we guide them, and then we give them the wings to fly.
“I always respect Barron’s ‘yes’ and ‘no’ and what he likes to do, where would like to be.”
Aged 10 when Donald Trump was first elected US president in 2016, Barron lived in the White House during his father’s opening termhaving initially remained in New York to finish the school year.
Where will Melania live during Trump’s second presidency?
In her sit-down with Earhardt, Melania also revealed that she will be dividing her time between Washington, New York and the family’s Mar-a-Lago mansion at Palm Beach, Florida.
“I will be in the White House, and when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York,” she said. “When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach.
“But my first priority is, you know, to be a mom, to be a first lady, to be a wifeand once we are in on January 20, you serve the country.”
When is Donald Trump’s inauguration as president?
