Getafe and Sporting face sporting sanctions for racism

Getafe faces a possible partial closure of its stadium stands. The racist insults that Balde denounced were reflected by Gonzalez Fuertes in the match minutes. Furthermore, the referee perfectly activated the protocol, which could not be carried out in its entirety due to a technical problem on the scoreboard at the Getafe venue.

The match report reflects: “At half-time in the match and still on the field of play, the visiting player number 3 informed my assistant number 2 that comments were made. racist messages towards him. Once in the locker room, I transfer the delegates of both teams and UCO, proceeding to carry out the anti-racism protocol before the start of the second part“.

A process identical to what happened against Sevilla

When it appears in the match minutes, the matter passes into the hands of the Disciplinary Committee, which already sanctioned Getafe last season with the partial closure of its stands for three gamesfor the same reason, in this case in a clash against Sevilla. Sanction that was eliminated by Appeal. The process will be similar.

The difference between this situation and the one experienced at the Bernabéu with racist insults to Lamine and Raphinha is that these were not included in the minutes and, therefore, there was no disciplinary sanction. They were located and financially sanctioned. The sports route was not applied as in other similar cases.

The player reproached the gesture and the referee reflected it in the minutes, which could bring the same punishment as that of Getafe. Sporting condemned “de emphatically any type of behavior that implies racism, xenophobia or violence in football, and deeply regrets the situation suffered by the Elche player Bambo Diaby“.
