After – Treviso – Stade Rochelais: “We often say this, but it will turn around”, wants to believe Grégory Alldritt

Grégory Alldritt had not yet read the other results before appearing in front of the microphones, but he knew that despite this second consecutive improved loss (32-25), his team, 2nd, would receive an 8th at Deflandre in April. A lesser evil.

As against Leinster, the match was very intense but ended in a defeat…

It's hard, because you put a lot of energy into it. And I think that at times, we put too much on… We have to manage to find the right balance between matches like the one against and like those against Leinster and Treviso, where we want to do so well that at one point… He we need to make things even simpler and make life easier.

Did you suffer in defense?

Yes, we suffered on some actions. It's strange, because I have the impression that throughout the match, we were still OK. But we have holes at times and they played really well, they managed to score. It will be interesting to see him again, but we make too many mistakes to win a Champions Cup match away, against an Italian, Latin team, who are playing the qualifier at home. We knew she was going to leave everything on the field, and that's what happened. There is frustration, again, like last week. But I admit that I prefer to have this frustration, with a crazy expenditure of energy and mistakes in pure rugby, than after certain matches at the start of the season where, on the contrary, there was no energy , no attitude, with more complicated Mondays.

Does it seem difficult to change your season with more precision?

You have to continue to work hard; we often say this speech but it will turn around. It's going to swing our way. Now you must not give up. There is still a week, with a huge trip to where we will have to put in a big match. Then there is a holiday period and the Six Nations Tournament which will be complicated. This is where everyone will be important. Now it's a real showdown, you against yourself, to try to bring more to the team every day.

“It’s up to us to settle down, work on our rugby and our precision because at this level, it’s precision that counts”

Didn't you miss a few key moments, like those touches in their half at the end of the match?

-

Yes, it's a bit like the image of the last three minutes: we can't say that the guys aren't having fun, because it hits a wall, but we played a bit like idiots. It's up to us to settle down, to work on our rugby and our precision because at this level – we know it, we've done it in previous seasons – it's precision that counts.

Did the shock against Leinster leave any traces that could explain this lack of precision?

It wasn't the juice that was missing. Maybe we missed training but players of our standards and our level are capable of being precise and diligent on the weekend despite a short week. I wouldn't use that as an excuse; we must continue to be positive, to work hard collectively and individually, for everyone to question themselves. We can all do better.

Did you have fun, despite everything?

Personally, yes, because I leave everything I have on the field. That, at least, is a satisfaction. Now, there remains this little grain of frustration that must be evacuated. And I repeat, things will turn out if we don't give up and keep going.

What did you think of Treviso and its many Italian internationals that the Blues will soon meet during the Tournament?

I wasn't surprised, we know his qualities. We knew it was a team that played a lot, they proved it with some great rugby and by scoring 32 points. They have quality in their squad, congratulations to them.
