“This is unacceptable!” Actress Firmine Richard gives a big rant about the votes live on TF1

This Saturday, January 18, actress Firmine Richard was among Ebony's supporters during the semi-final of the Star Academy on TF1. During the prime, she realized that certain votes were not counted and she did not hesitate to denounce it forcefully live.

The Star Academy unleashes passions. Even more so when the home stretch is looming for the candidates and the public wants to see their protégé win. This Saturday, January 18, the second semi-final took place between Ebony and Franck. A moment eagerly awaited by relatives and fans of the two students. Ebony's supporters were gathered in Île-Saint-Denis, where she is from. Among them, we found some well-known faces, notably that of the Guadeloupean actress Firmine Richard. Like thousands of viewers, the actress was excited to see her favorite fly over the competition. “I want to say to Ebony because I know she will win: Ebony, all the Antilles are with you! I ask everyone, I ask the diaspora to vote for you, because the votes of the Antilles are not not counted, it seems”, she said into Mathieu Johann’s microphone in the middle of the evening.

After Ebony's victory, Firmine Richard demands accountability for the West Indies vote

This first intervention and the information that the Antilles could not vote was not commented on by Nikos or by a member of the production. The evening continued as if nothing had happened and Ebony won against Franck, thanks to the votes of the public. Firmine Richard then spoke again. “She will win. In front of Marine, she will win. We must count the votes of the West Indians! It is unacceptable that the votes of the West Indians are not counted”, she reiterated, both happy for Ebony and outraged to know that some of the French cannot speak out and will not be able to support her for the final.

Why doesn't TF1 count votes from overseas?

TF1 explains on its website that the games and votes are only available to metropolitan viewers. “It is above all a technical problem which does not allow us to offer residents of overseas departments, regions and communities the opportunity to play by telephone and/or SMS as part of the interactive games offered during our programs”we read there. A restriction which therefore not only affects the Antilles, but also , Guyana and all overseas territories.
