Bournemouth Reaction – All the quotes after Magpies’ winning run comes to an end

Dan Burn, speaking to TNT Sports:

On Bournemouth:

“They are very, very good on the counter. They’ve got some very good players and are very dangerous. They ask questions that a lot of other teams don’t ask. They go quite long and direct and you don’t come up against that as much in this league.”

On what went wrong for United:

“We played in areas that we usually don’t. We lost the ball quite a lot in the middle of the pitch. It is disappointing. We’ve been on a great run so we just need to dust ourselves down and go again.”

Eddie Howe, speaking to TNT Sports:

On the team’s performance:

“I don’t think we were great today, we were beaten by the better team. I was disappointed from the start really. I thought physically we didn’t look anywhere near our best levels today, I think the game in midweek and the run of games we had previously caught up with us today.”

On whether it was a good performance for Bournemouth or a bad one for Newcastle:

“From our perspective we have to be critical of ourselves, we just weren’t there today. That’s not the level of performance we’ve seen of late and we have to accept that and try to come back stronger.”

On whether Bournemouth forced Newcastle’s sloppiness:

-

“I think they played very well, they pressed us very well and upset our rhythm, we didn’t adjust to that well enough. We had our moments in the game but we never really felt like we had control of it like we normally would and have in this recent run so there is stuff for us to look at and reflect on and try to learn from.”

On why the team didn’t kick on from Bruno Guimarães’ equaliser:

“I just think we looked a bit fatigued, that yard of pace we normally have in our game wasn’t there whereas they had it in theirs. We did score a good goal and you felt maybe from that moment, with the crowd’s help, we could lift our game but we didn’t. It was bitty and in the second half the game just got away from us.”

On maintaining the team’s form despite losing the winning run:

“Well a period of reflection and analysis for us to see where we lost today’s game and then we’ll have to quickly refocus on our next opposition, a tough away game at Southampton.”

On the potential left in the season across all competitions:

“We do have a lot to look forward to but it’s important we digest today and recover from it then go again. “
