Payton Talbott sent support message by Grammy-award winner Frank Ocean ahead of UFC 311

One of music’s most influential figures has put his backing behind UFC super-prospect Payton Talbott ahead of his fight tonight.

Frank Ocean, who has won Grammys for his work and is considered one of the greatest R&B musicians alive, rarely posts on social media, and has zero main block posts on Instagram. But he took to his stories to wish Talbott luck as he faces Raoni Barcelos at UFC 311.

The bantamweight prospect puts his undefeated record on the line against Barcelos, who has defeated a previous The Ultimate Fighter winner and even faced Umar Nurmagomedov.

Frank Ocean sends support to Payton Talbott

In a rare social media post this evening, R&B icon Frank Ocean has taken to Instagram stories to share his support for the enigmatic rising UFC star Payton Talbott. The Las Vegas native has burst on to the scene with huge knockout wins, and puts it on the line in a major step up tonight.

Ocean shared a photo of Talbott appearing to cook the pair a meal, and captioned it as such to his almost 7million followers. He wrote the simple message “Gotta cook tonight, P,” which caught fire in the MMA community.

Fans were surprised to see the pair were pals, particularly when the message was pushed by a number of major MMA Twitter accounts. “This is real, holy s***,” one fan wrote.

Payton Talbott is biggest favourite on the UFC 311 card

Even the last minute introduction of a fight between number ten ranked Renato Moicano and pound-for-pound number one Islam Makhachev couldn’t dampen the buzz around Talbott. All bookies have made him a nearly unbackable favourite for tonight’s fight.

The 5’10” star is certainly a major prospect, but faces a very very tough test in Barcelos.

Barcelos’ best-aged victory is his unanimous decision over Said Nurmagomedov, who has gone 5-1 in the UFC since. This, along with Barcelos’ barn-burner performance against Timur Valiev, has put Barcelos in high regard as one of the most underrated, unranked fighters at bantamweight.
