Sheikh Al-Tayeb Kohl Al-Ayoun has passed away

Morocco lost, this Saturday morning in Rabat, one of the most prominent figures of the Holy Qur’an, Sheikh Tayeb Kohl El-Ayoun, who passed away at the age of 94, after a long career that he devoted to serving the Book of God and spreading the values ​​of the Islamic religion and its lofty morals.

Sheikh Al-Tayeb Kohl Al-Ayoun is considered one of the most prominent Moroccan reciters and one of the most prominent figures in reciting the Holy Qur’an with authentic Moroccan recitation, as his star emerged as one of the pioneers of recitation on the air of Dar Si Said Radio in Marrakesh.

Sheikh Tayeb Kohl El-Ayoun was born in 1931 in Marrakesh, where he memorized the entire Holy Qur’an before he reached the age of twelve. He was distinguished by a busy academic career, which began at the famous Ibn Youssef Mosque in Marrakesh, where he led Tarawih prayers at the age of sixteen, all the way to reciting the Holy Qur’an in front of the late King Mohammed V. On a festive occasion in the Ahmar area, he also completed his studies at Ibn Yusuf University before moving to Cairo to continue his studies at Dar Al Uloom College, and obtained a postgraduate degree. In the sciences of the Qur’an and Sunnah from Dar Al-Hadith Al-Hasaniya.

Sheikh Al-Tayeb Kohl Al-Ayoun was a role model in serving the Book of God, as he contributed to teaching the sciences of the Qur’an and preparing generations of memorizers at Mohammed V High School in Marrakesh, and participated in the judging committees of Tajweed competitions inside and outside Morocco.

In the 1980s, the late King enjoyed the trust of the late King Hassan II, who appointed him to teach the Holy Qur’an and Islamic subjects to members of the royal family, including the princesses and Prince Moulay Rachid.

The body of Sheikh Al-Tayeb Kahl Al-Ayoun was buried in the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Rabat, after performing the funeral prayer over him this afternoon at the Martyrs’ Mosque in the Agdal neighbourhood, in the presence of a large crowd of his fans, students and family members.

May God have mercy on the deceased, forgive him, and make him dwell in His spacious gardens. We belong to God and to Him we shall return.
