Amiens certainly had the first scoring opportunity of this game when Mafouta, rushed down the left side and struck towards the Bastiaise goal where Placide, sure of himself, repelled the Picardy attempt with the toe of his right shoe but it was undoubtedly the “blue” of Bastia who clearly dominated this first period with almost total possession of the ball, initiatives etc.
A Sporting like Tavenot wanted who could also have taken the advantage on the scoreboard on this beautiful recovery of Roncaglia's header from a corner and which Gurtner had great difficulty in controlling.
With these “blues” who were not afraid in the very fresh Picardy atmosphere, we could therefore expect the best but despite a clear domination and a good hold on the game, Sporting could not do better than returning to the locker room on a disappointing 0-0 while…
We then waited to see what the second half would be like.
Amiens of course regained momentum, but strong and well-organized Bastia held up perfectly and while we seemed to be moving towards a sharing of points which would have suited the Picards more, there was this decision taken by the referee, fell from the sky for kaiboué's partners with this penalty whistled against Etoga after a free kick taken by Corchia. A referee who, well before that and after a few seconds of reflection, failed to sanction Urhoghide who had caught Ducrocq's ankle in the middle of the penalty area…
After that, Sporting set off again towards the opposing goal. But the damage had been done.
Bastia lost a match which was still within its reach.
Hard, hard for Tavenot and his players.
