These are the report cards of Juventus-Milan 2-0:
MAIGNAN 6.5: three saves at the start of the second half to keep up a situation that subsequently collapsed. Not guilty of both Mbangula’s and Weah’s goals. He tries, as a leader, to keep his teammates’ concentration high, without great results. In the first half he saves twice, seriously, from Yildiz.
EMERSON ROYAL 5: trying to see something useful from him in the offensive phase is a chimera. In the defensive phase he is literally joked about by Mbangula, who does what he wants on that flank. On the goal that gives Juventus the lead, in addition to the deflection that puts Maignan out of action, he is far from his man and the shortening comes at the wrong time. (from 73′ CAMARDA SV)
CAGE 6: he is without a doubt the best of the defensive department and one of the very few to save face in a largely worrying performance from the team.
TOMORI 5.5: he keeps Weah in the game on the 2-0 goal and is quickly burned by George’s son. With the ball at his feet, honestly, he never gives the feeling of knowing what to do and goes haywire under Juventus’ ferocious pressure.
THEO HERNANDEZ 5.5: a first half where, together with Leao, they show themselves as the primary weapons (not to say the only ones) at Conceiçao’s disposal. He can’t even have an impact on set pieces.
BREATH 5.5: he’s in great shape physically, because he’s played everything and someone in management should understand that we need a midfielder who can give him a breather. Lots of small mistakes that wouldn’t be like Fofana if he were lucid.
-BENNACER 5: he struggles tremendously in the middle of the pitch. You can see that he doesn’t have great pace, both in his legs and in his head, and is eaten up by Thuram’s ferocity and beyond. (from 63′ JIMENEZ 5.5: tries to give the team some verve, but his shock lasts from the sideline upon entering the pitch).
MOSES 5: we’re not there. Technically he doesn’t have the feet to be able to play as a winger, in terms of covering spaces he loses himself in the second half, but he also struggled in the first.
REIJNDERS 5: he has the ball with the potential 0-1 on a corner scheme: Theo finds him alone inside the red zone of the black and white area, but he slips the shot. Then, as the minutes pass, he shuts down and even comes out frowning. But he too seems to no longer have any on a physical level. (from 79′ TERRACCIANO SV).
LEO 6: he is the only one of Milan’s entire offensive department to create something in both halves, especially in the first half where he also applies himself on a defensive level. He can’t always do everything alone.
ABRAHAM 4: simply, he can be a third striker, not the first alternative to Morata. He doesn’t get half of it, he is totally absorbed by the Juventus defence. The management should think about coming up with a good amount of money to get a Punta Vera, with a capital P and V. (since 80′ JOVIC SV).
ALL. CONCEPT 5: the collapse of the team in the second half is something worrying and perhaps it is the photograph of a squad that has little character on a global level, as well as being short both numerically and qualitatively in crucial departments such as midfield and attack. He gets really pissed off, but after the Super Cup all the flaws of a poorly constructed team came to light and he will have to have time to work on it. Last of the guilty.
