The UFC did not pretend for the first numbered card of the year and on the night of Saturday January 18 to Sunday January 19, two belts will be put into play at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood (California). That of the light weights (- 70 kg) where Islam Makhachev will try to retain his title against Renato Moicano after the withdrawal of Arman Tsarukyan, and that of the bantamweights (- 61 kg) with an opposition which promises to be spectacular between the Georgian champion Merab Dvalishvili and Dagestani Umar Nurmagomedov, trained by his cousin Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Tsarukyan withdraws and replaced by Moicano

Undisputed lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev has not suffered defeat since 2015 and remains on 14 consecutive victories. The Dagestani has beaten all the big names in the category and even dominates the UFC Pound-for-Pound rankings, which lists the best fighters in all categories in the American organization. While he was due to face Arman Tsarukyan for a highly anticipated rematch, the Russian will face Brazilian Renato Moicano after Arman Tsarukyan's last minute withdrawal. A huge opportunity for him who remains an impressive victory against Benoît , and only 10th lightweight contender.

In the evening's co-main event, Merab Dvalishvili will defend his belt against Umar Nurmagomedov. The Georgian champion has not lost since 2018 and remains on 10 consecutive victories. But facing him is the man who could embody the future of the bantamweight division. Undefeated in his career, the cousin of Khabib Nurmagomedov is an extremely complete fighter and demonstrated all his qualities during his last victory against the American Cory Sandhagen.

The first fights on the pre-preliminary card are expected to begin around 12 a.m. while the main card is expected around 4:15 a.m., with the evening's main event scheduled for around 6:15 a.m.
