Foreign VAR reaction from Okan Buruk! He announced the position where he expected a penalty

In the 20th week of the Super League, leader Galatasaray lost points away to Hatayspor.

Cemali Sertel, who appeared on the stage in the 28th minute, put Hatayspor ahead 1-0. Galatasaray’s equalizing goal was scored by Victor Osimhen from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.

With this result, leader Galatasaray rose to 51 points. Atakaş Hatayspor, which is in the relegation zone, made 10 points.

Galatasaray Coach Okan Buruk made evaluations to beIN SPORTS after the match. Buruk expressed his reaction to the foreign VAR referee and explained the position in which he expected a penalty.

Buruk’s statements are as follows:

“After a certain minute, we made slow movements. We made long passes. The changes at the beginning of the second half were to speed up the game. We took too many positions to win the match. The ball did not enter. Towards the end, there were still many positions that we misused. We took so many positions, but We could have had 5-6 more chances. I am not counting the first half. We did bad things and gave our opponent the chance to get ahead and be resilient. If our finishing was good, we could have won the match very easily. We had won in 17 away matches and lost points here last year.

Our players coming from the club are trying to do their best. While the game was going well, we brought the second center forward into the game. Barış seems both tired and looks like it will continue. We made the Batshuayi move. We could have expected Batshuayi to contribute better. Even though we scored early, we couldn’t turn the game around. We had a very clear penalty position in the first half. We are not going to criticize just because foreign VAR has arrived. Just as we criticize Turkish referees, they will also receive their share of these criticisms. Touching the ball is a penalty no matter where in the world. “We wanted to continue with the midfielder to establish play.”

“WE HAD TO DO BETTER”

Stating that they could not pass the ball well in the first half, Buruk said, “I can say that maybe we wasted 45 minutes. The surprise goal we conceded from a set piece here caused us to end the first half 1-0 behind.” he said.

The experienced coach stated that they put up a superior fight in the second half, “We actually played a very good second half. We created a lot of positions, scored goals, got into goal positions and missed very clear goals. When we looked at the end of the match, it was a match that we could not win. Of course, we are very sorry for this. I would also like to congratulate Hatayspor for their fight. “We could have done better in the game, we had to do it.” he said.

Explaining that they could not capitalize on many goal opportunities in the second half, Buruk said:

“After the decisions we made, we could have taken clearer positions, especially towards the end of the match, but unfortunately we could not take these clear positions, we made bad choices. Especially in the second half, we fought very well, played the right game, but we could not score. In this sense, of course, we are sorry. We have an advantage. This “We want to maintain the advantage. We were going to make a mistake somewhere, and this will be a big lesson for us.”

Buruk reminded that they will face Dynamo Kiev in the UEFA Europa League on January 21, “We have a European cup match to play in 4 days. We need to go out on the field in a much better way and show our unity.” he said.
