Through an interview given to Provenceon newsstands this Thursday, January 16, François Cluzet spoke about Omar Sy, his playing partner in the successful film Untouchables by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano, released on November 2, 2011.

After 25 years of absence from the theater, François Cluzet is back on stage with a single on stage called Another divine day given at the Jeu de Paume, in Aix-en-Provence, until this Saturday, January 18. In this play adapted from the novel by Denis Michelis and directed by Emmanuel Noblet, the 69-year-old actor plays a psychiatrist interned in a hospital. On this occasion, the actor gave an interview to Provence on newsstands this Thursday, January 16 in which he returned to his duo formed with Omar Sy in the successful film Untouchables directed by Olivier Nakache and Éric Toledano, released on November 2, 2011. “I like it very much. Not only is he very funny, and on a human level, he is a very elegant guy.he confided. It was easy to make people believe in this friendship.”

During filming, while he played Philippe Pozzo di Borgo in his wheelchair, he said to himself: “I am Omar's first viewer.” Thus, François Cluzet always encouraged his playing partner by telling him: “Go ahead Omar, I can't do anything!” If he agreed to play in Untouchablesit is above all thanks to the “very well written script”. However, according to the actor, “no one could have imagined the popular success it would become! Especially with dark humor, like 'No arms, no chocolate!'” For François Cluzet, “Intouchables has the great merit of showing the role of caregivers, people who allow others to live”. Before emphasizing: “It is to them that we must increase salaries and give the Legion of Honor, rather than giving it to guys like me!’”

Untouchables: why the directors didn't want to make a sequel

In the columns of Parisian last July, the directors of the film explained why they had chosen not to release a second part after the success they experienced with Untouchables. Proud of this feature film having left its mark on spectators, the filmmakers were keen not to remain confined to this one, by deciding to “do not do it immediately”. “We could also have made sequels to ‘Our Happy Days’ or ‘The Sense of Partying’. It’s not in our DNA to overexploit something that worked,” affirmed Eric Toledano. Comments confirmed by his sidekick: “A success is too fragile. A second film could have damaged the first.” The movie that followed Untouchables was not done without fear. Omar Sy accompanied them for Samba, released in 2014.
