Star striker Omar Marmoush is about to move from Eintracht Frankfurt to English soccer champions Manchester City. “The probability is very high that he will leave us,” said Eintracht sports director Markus Krösche on the sidelines of the Bundesliga game against Borussia Dortmund on the streaming service DAZN and added: “Ultimately it is Manchester City, with whom we have been with for a day or two closer exchange. It could be that he will leave us for Manchester City.”
The 25-year-old Marmoush, who scored 15 goals this season, was no longer in the squad for the game against BVB. A transfer fee of up to 80 million euros is being discussed. «We are talking about Manchester City. This isn’t a normal club. This is a huge step for him, a huge opportunity. We have always said that if a player develops faster than us as a club, we will give him the opportunity to take the next step,” said Krösche.
Hessians denied agreement in the morning
In the morning, Eintracht denied that an agreement had already been reached. An agreement cited by various media outlets has not yet been reached, the club said.
Sky, the French broadcaster RMC and the transfer expert Fabrizio Romano had previously reported, among others, that the Hessian Bundesliga team had reached a verbal agreement with the top team from England. Frankfurt is on course for the Champions League after the first half of the season.
-Krösche praised Marmoush for his attitude in the last few weeks: “He played an important role in why we were so successful in the last two games. You can see what character he has that he gave his all in the last two games.”
