DECRYPTION – To convince the Socialists not to vote for censure, the Prime Minister renounced several measures which appeared in Michel Barnier's draft budget.
While the government had the knife of censorship at its throat, some within it swallowed the content of François Bayrou's general policy declaration a little wrongly. « We had a deal and he did not detail the concessions we had agreed to with the socialists. It would have been enough to say a word ! »choked up an advisor shortly after the speech.
To catch up with this « oversight »the government multiplied the declarations in order to underline the budgetary pledges that it intended to give to the Socialist Party. A few hours before the vote on the first motion of censure, this Thursday, the Prime Minister even sent a letter to the Socialists, in which he summarizes the list of his concessions.
