The leader of the socialist deputies Boris Vallaud contradicted on Friday the Minister of the Economy Éric Lombard, who had considered that there was an “agreement” with the PS so that it would not censor the budget, specifying that the censorship was ” still on the table.

“No, Éric Lombard, there is obviously no agreement with the socialists on the budget. Our decision yesterday is a test of the negotiation and consolidates our first advances. There is still a long way to go until budget, censorship is still on the table”, writes Boris Vallaud on X.

Earlier in the morning, the Minister of the Economy, a personal friend of the boss of the PS Olivier Faure, had considered that the fact that the socialists had not voted for the motion of censure of the Insoumis on Thursday amounted to an “agreement” with them to vote on the budget next month.

“Thanks to yesterday’s decision, we will have a budget,” he said.

The exchange did not escape Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

“It is the turn of Minister Lombard to verify it: the PS is not respecting any agreement. The one it concluded with Hollande and Faure will be worth nothing,” he tackled on socialists for having “betrayed” the New Popular Front by refusing to vote for censure on Thursday.

“The weathervane (the Socialist Party, Editor's note) will vote to censor the budget because the entire left will force it to do so. At the top and at the base,” he predicted.
