Dylan DeMelo we are in a BLOOD FEUD.
But first, the Highlights
Game Notes
- Your TOI Leader was Adam Larsson, who finished with 23:24
- The Jets and the Kraken have played two games this year, and each have been decided by a single goal. This time instead of a back and forth affair, this was the Kraken taking ample advantage of the Jets lackadaisical start and then hanging on for dear life as Winnipeg got big mad about having been down 1-0 for any length of time, and tried their damnedest to break Joey Daccord. And you know what? The Kraken got damn close. Damn, damn close to stealing a point from the Jets because they just couldn’t find a way to do it without the man-advantage…right up until the very, very end of it all. A heartbreaker of a loss if ever there was one, but only because you wanted to see Joey get rewarded for his hard work.
- If the Kraken can figure out a way to play that 1st period two more times, they might have something in their future; they kept the Jets on their heels for a solid 20 minutes and actually outshot them!
- At 2nd intermission, Asst. Coach Jessica Campbell talked about the need for more action in front of the net, which I completely agree with. This team could probably stun far more than just struggling eastern squads if they remembered they can skate pretty well one of these days and tried stretching the ice out.
- Well, having seen it in action, I’ve determined you can’t give that Winnipeg power play any breathing room or bad things happen. Seattle was lucky they got away from this one with only one power play goal against.
Was there anything good about this game?
Absolutely!
-- Joey Daccord stood on his actual braincase and noggin for 60 minutes. He had an 18 save 2nd period and finished the night with a .944 SV% against the best team in the NHL. First star earned in fire and blood, absolutely incredible night for the Mayor.
- Matty Beniers and Kaapo Kakko seem to have a budding chemistry as seen in the opening goal, which they managed to tally within the first ten minutes of the game and hang onto for a pretty decent length of game-time!
- For whatever reason the Seattle Kraken play the league-leading Jets super well?
