Did a Info journalist say this sentence live, thinking her microphone was cut? – Liberation

The sequence received C8 honors. Wednesday January 15, the show Don't touch my post by Cyril Hanouna notes the extract from an interview, on Info, with the deputy La France insoumise Eric Coquerel. Broadcast the day before on the public service channel, shortly before François Bayrou's general policy declaration, it involves the elected official in duplex. While the latter, questioned by presenter Lucie Chaumette, details what he expects from the new Prime Minister's speech, a voice on stage intervenes and blurts out: “He’s the best Coquerel!”

While in a blindfold, on TPMP, we can read “A France Télé journalist praises an LFI deputy, thinking his microphone was cut!” the various columnists of the show are invited to react. For Jean-Michel Maire, it's all seen: “Above all, it shows which side the journalists from France Télévisions and the public service are on. They are all on the left. It fell on her but they are all in the same situation!”

All day long, the sequence was widely commented on on social networks. Originally, she was isolated on Wednesday morning by Landry Ngang, parliamentary collaborator of Eric Coquerel, who did not escape the off-camera comment. The latter attributes the remarks heard to “the journalist”. And to have fun: “Luckily the microphone was on!” Quickly, far-right Internet users followed suit, taking the opportunity to criticize the independence and neutrality of the public service.

Arcom questioned

The Fdesouche press review states: “He’s the best Coquerel,” slips a journalist from France Télévisions, thinking her microphone is off.” For his part, National Rally deputy Jorys Bovet even goes so far as to question Arcom on X.

Note that on the air, a person seems to add to the initial interjection, in a sentence that is difficult to hear. Some Internet users hear “Yes, it’s true” or “Yes, from afar”. CheckNews is unable to decide the nature of these comments.

What is certain, however, is that the comment “It’s the best Coquerel!” is not attributable, contrary to what is claimed on social networks, to a journalist from France Info.

On set this Tuesday, January 14, at the time of the duplex of the rebellious deputy, there are several journalists and guests. On the France Info side, we find the presenter Lucie Chaumette, the journalist Séverine Larrouy, who transmits questions from Internet users, as well as the political journalist Daïc Audouit. Among the guests are Sabrina Agresti-Roubache, former Renaissance MP and Catherine Tricot, director of the magazine Regards, anchored to the left. Near CheckNewsthe channel assures that this sentence was not pronounced by an on-air journalist.

Requested by CheckNewsCatherine Tricot claims to be the originator of the famous phrase. “It’s me who says it. I thought our mics would be muted during duplex. My comments are in no way binding on France Info.” And to detail the context: “Shortly before on set, I said that Thursday's decision on the motion of censure would not be enough to defeat the NFP. Eric Coquerel had just rolled out this idea by saying that there would be another motion of censure on the budget anyway, a catch-up session for the PS. This is why I say this sentence.”

As for the inaudible comments in response, which many interpreted as approval, France Info indicates that it is not an on-air journalist who makes them either. That CheckNews is unable to confirm.
