The famous Bollywood star, Saif Ali Khan, was stabbed 6 times inside his home in the Bandra area during the early hours of Thursday morning.
Bandra District Police said that the unknown person had broken into the house in a robbery attempt that ended in a violent confrontation with a sword.
Mumbai Police also quickly opened an intensive investigation to track down and arrest the perpetrator.
In turn, Neeraj Uttamani, director of operations at the hospital where the 54-year-old star is being treated, said that Khan suffered six stab wounds, including two deep, adding that “one of the injuries was close to the spine.”
An official statement issued by the Saif team said: “Saif Ali Khan’s house was subjected to a burglary attempt… He is now in the hospital undergoing surgery… We ask the media and fans to be patient… The matter is in the hands of the police.”
Kareena Kapoor checks on her husband’s health
For her part, Kareena Kapoor Khan issued an official statement reassuring the public about her husband’s health condition. She confirmed that he was injured in his arm during the accident, and is now undergoing surgery at Lilvati Hospital.
The hospital administration later said that Ali Khan’s health condition is stable and he is recovering well.
This incident was a shock to fans of Saif Ali Khan, who is known as one of the most prominent stars of Indian cinema and has a rich artistic career.
