Ronald Araújo is the main name currently in Barcelona. The Uruguayan defender could leave FC Barcelona in this same transfer market if the club finally ends up reaching an agreement with Juventus Turin. The board is asking for an amount of between 60 and 70 million euros for their defender, a figure that could be too high for the interests of the Italian team.
The reality is that, after Iñigo Martínez’s injury in the final of the Spanish Super Cup against Real Madrid, Araújo more than delivered and put in a great performance in a match that FC Barcelona ended up winning. Now, after learning that the Basque will be away from the playing fields for about four weeks due to his injury, the Uruguayan will have a whole month to fight for a place in the back line alongside Pau Cubarsí. However, as Manu Carreño assured in ‘El Larguero, “we have to see what Barça needs more: Araújo or the money that his sale can obtain.” The Uruguayan might not settle for that month in which he will be a starter for sure and prefer to leave the Barça club to look for new objectives that guarantee him playing many more minutes.
The Sanhedrin gives its opinion on the future of Ronald Araújo
- Adrià Albets: “It’s the big question. If Juventus arrives with an amount between 60 or 70 million euros, Barça will be willing to let go of a player who for Hansi Flick is capital. The club will have to assess whether it prefers that income for the Uruguayan or if it is better for Araújo to stay until the end of the season. If he recovers Iñigo when he returns from injury, it is evident that he is part of the starters along with Pau Cubarsí.”
- Jordi Marti: “Iñigo is in the decline of his sporting career. However, Araújo is Barça’s best defender at a defensive level. If 80 million arrive it is oxygen, but, if they don’t… He is the best on the team and “We will have to try to renew it and find a solution.”
More information
- Julio Pulido: “If he pushes to leave, it doesn’t matter what Hansi Flick thinks or what interests Barça has with him.”
- Antonio Romero: “Araújo is a substitute right now. Iñigo’s injury is going to give him the possibility of playing for a month and that in football is a very long period in the sense that if he leaves this month… He is a great centre-back, but he sees that he has been a substitute since he recovered from the injury.
- Miguel Martin Talavera: “When I played everything and when I was untouchable I already had these episodes. When a player ends up becoming entrenched, the best thing is for him to leave the team.”
- Hand Carry: “For me, Araújo is among the three best centre-backs in LaLiga, not to say he is the best.”
- Antonio Romero: “Well, it wouldn’t be good for Real Madrid: centre-back and full-back, come on… They tell him ‘don’t renew, hold on and we’ll talk in January of next year.’ I threw it into the air as a comment, which I don’t think would be pass, but it would be great for Real Madrid.”
