Several areas in the Gaza Strip witnessed massive popular celebrations following the confirmation of the signing of the ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel, ending the Israeli war that has been ongoing in the Strip for more than 15 months.
An atmosphere of joy dominated the streets of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, and Khan Yunis in the south of the Strip, as news circulated that a ceasefire agreement and exchange deal would soon be reached.
The revelers chanted, “We are the children of Muhammad Deif,” in reference to the Commander-in-Chief of the Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement.
A short while ago, the Israeli Broadcasting Authority said that a ceasefire deal between the Palestinian resistance in the Gaza Strip and Israel had been officially confirmed in Israel, which opens the door to the possibility of stopping the Israeli aggression that has been ongoing for 15 months, which has left thousands of martyrs and wounded in the Strip.
In the same context, US President-elect Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached, and that the detainees would soon be released.
Sources told Al Jazeera that the implementation of the ceasefire in Gaza is expected to begin within two or three days, adding that there is a humanitarian relief protocol linked to the implementation of the first phase, which includes the entry of 600 aid trucks daily.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been committing genocide in Gaza, which left about 157,000 Palestinians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, amid massive destruction and famine that killed dozens of children and the elderly, in one of the worst humanitarian disasters in the world.
