Sunday January 12, near the Part-Dieu station in Lyon (3rd), passers-by were concerned about the behavior of an individual, loaded with a heavy sports bag from which the cries of pain of an animal, which turned out to be a small goat.
He tried to wring his neck to make him shut up
To silence it, these witnesses said, the man hit it, tried to wring its neck and banged its head on the ground, causing the animal to scream.
Shocked by the scene, a person called the police, and a crew quickly arrested the suspect, who was taken into custody.
Muzzled and legs tied
In the bag was a small goat, muzzled and its legs tied with string, which the suspect, a 25-year-old Nigerian, had purchased clandestinely and which he intended to slaughter illegally in order to consume it.
The police called the Lyon SPA, whose head of the Investigation department went to the site to recover the little goat, which appeared to be in bad shape and had no identification elements.
Complaint filed
The Lyon SPA has filed a complaint for serious abuse and cruelty to an animal and an investigation is underway, in particular to identify the origin of the little goat, for which there is no traceability.
Soon to be adopted
Once taken into care by the Lyon SPA, he was examined by a veterinarian, who noted his thinness, as well as ataxia of the limbs and fearful behavior. He was placed in a shelter for treatment and is expected to be put up for adoption at the end of the week.
Whether adopted by a professional or an individual, this approach must be declared to the Chamber of Agriculture and the animal must be identified by a ring, which was done by the teams of the Lyon SPA.
