Happy news from Fabienne Gyr: The presenter and her husband, Olympic rowing champion Mario Gyr, will be parents for the first time this summer. “We are overjoyed about the pregnancy and are really looking forward to the new phase of our lives,” says the 37-year-old.
Mario and Fabienne Gyr have been married since 2022.

Gyr, who comes from Oberägeri ZG, began her career in 2009 at the central Swiss broadcaster Tele 1, at that time still under her single name Fabienne Bamert. She joined SRF in 2020. Today she is one of the most familiar faces on television as the presenter of “Samschtig-Jass”, “SRF bi de Lüt” and “Sportpanorama”.

After a short maternity break in the summer, she plans to return to her usual moderation positions. Until then, Gyr would like to concentrate on her upcoming new role as a mother: “I have put a lot of passion and love into my professional career over the last few years – now it’s time to do this with the family.”
The child’s father is former professional athlete Mario Gyr. The retired Olympic rowing champion is one of the most successful Swiss athletes. In 2016, the 39-year-old won the gold medal in the lightweight foursome in Rio de Janeiro. The couple married on Lake Lucerne in 2022.
