Several injured and extensive property damage after an accident with a postal bus

On Tuesday, shortly before 8:30 a.m., a post bus drove from Rehetobel towards Heiden. At the Unterrechstein stop, the chauffeur discovered a technical defect in the vehicle. While he was busy fixing this defect, the postal bus, carrying seven passengers, suddenly rolled off. The driver managed to initiate emergency braking.

Road was closed for seven hours

Despite the emergency braking, the postal bus went over the right edge of the road and tipped over on its side. Four people were rescued with minor to moderate injuries and taken to surrounding hospitals by emergency services. The chauffeur remained uninjured. 40 members of the Heiden-Grub-Eggersriet-Wolfhalden Regiwehr were deployed to carry out the extensive accident investigation and the subsequent rescue. The Heiden – Kaien road had to be closed for around seven hours.
