Losc signs the longest unbeaten streak in the club's history

Qualified for the round of 16 of the Coupe de after its victory on penalties in (1-1, 4 tab 3), went on to a 20th consecutive match without defeat, the longest series of invincibility of its history.

For three months, Lille has not lost. Losc signed its 20th consecutive match without defeat on Tuesday by snatching its qualification for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France in Marseille (1-1, 4 tab 3). And it is the longest unbeaten run in the club's history. Bruno Genesio's men have not lost since a setback at Sporting Portugal (2-0) on September 17 in the Champions League. This put an end to a string of four defeats in a row (two in the Champions League, two in Ligue 1). But since then, Lille has been invincible.

Ten wins, ten draws

The Mastiffs recorded ten wins and ten draws in all competitions, allowing them to still be in contention in the Champions League (8th), to be well ranked in Ligue 1 (5th) and still in the race in the Coupe de France. Even if the scenario of the match did not really delight Bruno Genesio with the Marseille equalizer at the end of added time, while his team led 1-0 and had obtained several hot situations before.

“I am happy because we are qualified, happy because it was not easy to do it here, against a team that was in great shape and at home,” rejoiced Bruno Genesio at the end of the encounter. “We know the importance of the Vélodrome crowd. We are satisfied, we are proud. We will also have to remember this end of the match, once again, I don't want to be a killjoy. The shooting session on goal turned in our favor but I don't dare imagine if it had been the other way around. We will still have to quickly learn to better manage these end of matches which quite often cost us dearly.”

The technician had already ranted against his players last weekend after the draw at (0-0). “Angry, that’s a big word,” he said on Tuesday. “Everything I said, I thought about it before saying it because I felt certain things. Despite the qualification, I'm going to drive the point home a little more. I'll talk about it with some of them. He there are still things to improve if we want to do great things, if we want to progress, if we want to finish at the top of the Ligue 1 table, if we want to go far in this competition and if we want to qualify for the Champions League These are small details which, at the very top. level, can be very expensive, like the goal we conceded this evening.”
